Classic Hard Sauce

Plum pudding is one of my favourite Christmas desserts. I don’t have it much anymore as it no longer seems to be a favourite of others. I came up with this hard sauce recipe in the mid ’70s trying to mimic the original hard sauce I once had at someone else’s home.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup icing sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3-4 tbsp brandy or rum
pinch of nutmeg

Method:

With electric mixer or by hand beat butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugars until well blended. Add brandy or rum and nutmet. Mix well and chill.
