Stop, Stay & Board

Rainbow sports a blue inflatable step fender, used as a boarding step. We have a small folding stool that we use for boarding, if needed. The step fender is shown in the picture to the right, hanging off the port side.

There are two  anchors on the bow, Delta and a claw. We have the Delta attached to chain, being our primary anchor. We attached a swivel to the Delta which makes it easier to right itself in place when it is pulled up. Before that I manually had to reach down over the roller to put it in the right spot on the bow. It also helps to keep the chain and rode on the roller.  We also keep one Danforth anchor on the stern. I found a cute video as shown below, on another boating site showing the Danforth vs the Spade anchors (Spade vs Dodge Ram). It shows the physical ability of the holding power of a Spade anchor. On another site, Christine DeMarchant has a great description and usefulness of all  different anchor types!

Rainbow pulls a small Mercury inflatable dinghy named POG (Pot of Gold), reliably getting us to shore when anchored or moored.
